Michael Olise scored twice as France produced a stunning late comeback to thrash Belgium 4-1 in the Nations League on Monday.

Belgium looked on course for a famous victory after Dodi Lukebakio opened the scoring, running on to Romeo Lavia’s superb 60-yard through ball before calmly beating France debutant goalkeeper Guillaume Restes.

France dominated possession and continued to press for an equaliser, eventually getting their reward when Désiré Doué’s low strike from outside the box found the bottom corner beyond Belgium debutant Maarten Vandevoordt.

The hosts then turned the game on its head in the final 13 minutes.

Rayan Cherki completed the turnaround after substitute Michael Olise picked him out with a precise cutback, before Olise took centre stage with two late goals.

The Bayern Munich forward struck twice, both assisted by Doué, to cap another outstanding performance for Les Bleus.

Olise has now been directly involved in 17 goals in 16 appearances for France in 2026, underlining his growing importance to the national side.

The victory maintained France’s unbeaten start under Zinedine Zidane and strengthened their position at the top of Nations League Group A1 with 10 points from four matches.

Belgium, managed by Mark van Bommel, remain third on six points.

Meanwhile, Italy climbed to second place after beating Turkey 3-1 at home.

Gianluca Scamacca put Roberto Mancini’s side ahead before Aral Simsir restored parity for Turkey.

Riccardo Calafiori restored Italy’s advantage with a header, while Pio Esposito sealed the victory with a third goal.
